UNESCO and FIA announce new strategic partnership to tackle racism in sports FIA’s world-leading research capability will complement UNESCO’s international alliance of UN member states. Research from FIA’s online abuse campaign found that 50% of all abuse directed at athletes and competitors in 2024 is misogynistic or racist, a significant increase from 2023. Spanish Olympian Aauri Bokesa praised the partnership as a “powerful platform” that will allow her to “amplify my voice to promote inclusion, equity and safety in sport”.

The FIA has launched a groundbreaking education programme as part of its ongoing commitment to combat online abuse in sport, the first sporting governing body to introduce such a resource. The interactive programme builds digital resilience within sporting organisations, offering competitors and officials critical insights into the triggers, targets, and various forms of online abuse, as well as the impact on individuals and society, and the legal frameworks available to combat it.
