European Rally Trophy

Building on the success of the wholesale restructure rolled out in 2023, the FIA European Rally Trophy remains an attractive feeder to the FIA European Rally Championship and beyond – and not just for crews.

As intended by the FIA Rally Department when it revamped the series, event organisers have also used the ERT as a platform for progression with Rali Ceredigion and Rally Silesia – ERT rounds in 2023 – gaining promotion to the ERC for 2024.

Once again, ASNs were invited to nominate a maximum of two events each to appear on the ERT calendar, which remains a mix of asphalt and gravel events. Competitors are permitted to contest as many of the 13 rounds as they wish. However, as was the case in 2023, they can only count their best six scores as part of cost-control measures.

An overall ERT title and an award for drivers under 27 on January 1 are up for grabs with no restriction on type of eligible car used. However, a coefficient will be applied according to the number of starters in Rally2, Rally3, Rally4, Rally5, Rally5-Kit and RGT cars.

This will give the possibility for any driver to win the title regardless of what category car type they drive. Indeed, Czech Republic’s René Dohnal claimed the 2023 ERT title driving a Peugeot 208 Rally4. FIA Rally Star driver Romet Jürgenson, who steps up to the FIA Junior WRC Championship in 2024, won FIA Junior ERT title in 2023.

What’s new for 2024?

Calendar changes mean no clashing ERT events in 2024, something that could not be avoided in 2023.
Rally5-Kit cars, which can be homologated at local level in collaboration with the FIA Technical Department, are permitted for ERT action. The exciting move will allow the use of parts and expertise available locally to deliver more cost-effective competition cars.
