The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organizations worldwide, has announced that Sara Group, the official insurance partner of FIA Member Club the Automobile Club D’Italia (ACI), has achieved the highest possible recognition under the FIA Road Safety Index, becoming the first insurance company in Italy and the third in Europe to receive the prestigious 3-star rating.

Developed by the FIA, with the support of the FIA Foundation, the FIA Road Safety Index gives organisations worldwide a data-driven methodology to assess, manage, report, and improve their road safety footprint.

Road safety is a major global challenge, with around 1.19 million people dying on the road each year and approximately 50 million people injured. In Italy alone, more than 170,000 road crashes were recorded in 2024, resulting in over 3,000 deaths and 233,000 injuries. By mobilising organisations to act at scale, the FIA Road Safety Index drives meaningful improvements to save more lives.

As part of Sara Group, Sara Assicurazioni and Sara Vita received three stars following a comprehensive audit assessing the Group’s approach to road safety management and the societal impact of its mobility-related activities. The assessment examined corporate policies and processes, leadership commitment, employee road behaviour, and the vehicles used across the organisation.

Sara Group’s strong performance reflects the company’s long-term commitment to road safety as a core pillar of its corporate social responsibility strategy. Internally, this commitment prioritises employee wellbeing and protection, while externally it translates into mobility solutions, education programmes and awareness-raising initiatives, including the long-running “Sara Safe Factor” youth training project. The Group also invests 1% of its annual net profit in road safety initiatives.
