The Conference, which will mark the conclusion of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety, will gather minister-led delegations from some eighty countries and their representatives from various sectors of society.

The Expert Group’s mission is to summarize and evaluate the efforts of the past ten years (Decade of Action), as well as propose targets and guidelines for the next ten years.

Alejandro Furas, Secretary General of Latin NCAP and member of the Expert Group, declared “It is an honour to have been nominated to the International Academic Expert Group to work on the 2030 agenda and goals to be presented at the Ministerial Conference in 2020 in Stockholm. I hope that our contribution to the agenda of the Ministerial Conference reflects the pressing aspect of the road safety challenge for countries with mature economies and those parts of the world that are the most impoverished. I think we should reshape the goals and the agenda in order to achieve the goals proposed for 2020 no later than 2030.”
