ERT - Introducing the Rallye Casinos Do Algarve

For the second year in a row the Rallye Casinos do Algarve will host the final of the FIA European Rally Trophy on 16/17 November in Portugal. 

For 45 years the Rallye do Algarve has been part of the Portuguese Rally Championship and once again the event will decide who will be the National Champion.  In addition the 2018 Rallye Casinos do Algarve will also host the Peugeot Rally Cup Iberica, South Rally Championship and the Portugal Historic Rally Championship, making it one of the most important rallies on the Iberian Peninsula.

In 2018 the Rallye Casinos do Algarve will have a total of 157 Km of stages (totalling a distance of 485 Km), divided in two legs, practically all taking place in the dramatic Monchique mountain range.

The first leg on Friday 16th November will go through two loops on the stages of Alferce and Fóia and ending the day on a super special stage devised on the streets of the town of Lagos.  The Fóia, the rally's most charismatic stage will finish on the highest point of the Algarve.

On Saturday 17th November the competitors will face the stages of Chilrão, Nave Redonda and Monchique, all run twice, with the podium being held in Praia da Rocha, in front of the Hotel Algarve Casino.

The Lagoa municipality joined Portimão, Lagos and Monchique to host the ceremonial start in the town centre, with parc fermé and the service park being installed on the grounds of the Pavilhão do Arade.

Special Access for Spectators

Spectator areas are available for the public to enjoy the sights and sounds of rallying as some of the best crews from across Europe fight it out to win the 2018 European Rally Trophy.

On each leg there are four spectator areas which will provide some excellent viewing for rally fans to watch safely.

The FIA European Rally Trophy

The European Rally Trophy is made up of competitors from seven regions, which are the Alpine Rally Trophy, the Balkan Rally Trophy, the Baltic Rally Trophy, the Benelux Rally Trophy, the Celtic Rally Trophy, the Central Rally Trophy and the Iberian Rally Trophy.  The top five competitors in each class from the seven regions are eligible to enter the 2018 European Rally Trophy final.

Competitor registration for the European Rally Trophy final closes on Friday 5 November, with the entry list being unveiled on Tuesday 6 November. 

The Rallye Casinos do Algarve gets underway on Wednesday 14 November with reconnaissance over two days. Scrutineering and admin checks take place on Thursday 15 November, with the start of the first leg of the rally taking place on Friday 16 November and concluding on Saturday 17 November.
