JAF OFFERS ASSISTANCE FOR DAMAGED VEHICLES DURING A DISASTER

Japan's earthquakes and typhoons create havoc and wreak many thousands of homes and vehicles. While some vehicles are lost, others are severely damaged, and owners have lengthy repair times. In response to increasing requests for assistance while removing damaged and stray vehicles, FIA Member Club the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) developed a Road Service Task Force in 2004 to dispatch aid to disaster-stricken areas.

More recently, JAF initiated a crowdfunding campaign to support residents as they rebuild their lives. The activities of the crowdfunding campaign include loaning vehicles for free when a disaster has occurred.

JAF has raised 3 million yen over three months this year. The funds will be donated to the Japan Car Sharing Association, whose services include loan of vehicles at no cost as well as maintenance.
