“WATCH OUT FOR KIDS” — New #3500LIVES Campaign visual promoted at the Italian Grand Prix
Today, at the Italian Grand Prix, International Football Player and new #3500LIVES Campaign Ambassador Didier Drogba and FIA President Jean Todt were joined by Charles Leclerc, also Campaign Ambassador, and the other racing drivers of the Italian teams of the FIA Formula One World Championship to support the new “Watch out for Kids” rule with a family picture on the grid.
On the day before, the new visual had been officially revealed in the F1 Paddock. Didier Drogba and FIA President Jean Todt were joined by ACI President and FIA Sport Vice-President Angelo Sticchi Damiani, Chairman and CEO of Formula One Chase Carey, Commercial and Marketing Director of IGPDecaux Giovanni Uboldi, and two other #3500LIVES Campaign Ambassadors, FIA Formula One Racing Driver Charles Leclerc and 2016 FIA Formula One World Champion Nico Rosberg, to raise awareness on the necessity to make roads safer for kids.
“So much remains to be done to address the road safety crisis. The engagement of famous personalities, the motor sport community and the entire FIA Family is crucial to help us tackle this challenge. I’d like to thank Didier Drogba, our 18th Ambassador, and the other #3500LIVES Campaign Ambassadors, for their commitment to this fight. By calling to ‘Watch out for Kids’, when they are playing near the road or in poor infrastructure area, this new visual will bring more focus on one of the most vulnerable road users”, said Jean Todt.
Indeed, road traffic crashes are the first cause of death for children and young adults aged from 5 to 29 years old.
“Children are still too exposed to the dangers of the road. Ensuring their safety, especially on their way to school, should be our priority. I’m really proud to join the #3500LIVES Global Road Safety Campaign to help mobilise road users and contribute to the adoption of safer behaviours on the road”, said Didier Drogba.
The visual will be displayed in cities around the world thanks to JCDecaux with a particular focus on Africa, where the rates of road fatalities are higher than in the rest of the world despite comparatively low levels of motorisation. The Didier Drogba Foundation, the FIA Foundation and the Prudence Foundation will also contribute to spread the message for improved road safety across the continent.
