Single-seater stars to showcase their skills in FIA FR World Cup

16.10.26

Formula 1 hopefuls of the future will demonstrate their potential in one of international motor sport’s most exciting and prestigious races when they contest the FIA FR World Cup from 19-22 November.

Counting for the 73rd Macau Grand Prix, the third edition of the FIA FR World Cup is the first for the Gen2 Formula Regional car.

Developed by renowned chassis constructor Tatuus in close partnership with the FIA, the car follows the aerodynamic philosophy deployed in Formula 1 to encourage closer racing, while representing another step in terms of performance and safety.

It also features the Race Mode push to pass system, the result of extensive research and development managed by the FIA.

Thirteen two-car squads have been selected for the 2026 FIA FR World Cup: Pinnacle Motorsport, last year’s winning entrant, the 10 teams that contested the inaugural FIA Formula Regional European Championship (FIA FREC) in 2026, plus TOM’S Racing, the winning team from the 2025 Formula Regional Japanese Championship. One further outfit representing the historic legacy and international heritage of motor sport in Macau – SJM Theodore Racing – has also been chosen. The full provisional entry list follows:

Following its standout victory in the 2025 FIA FR World Cup courtesy of Théophile Naël after a thrilling slipstream battle on the iconic 6.120-kilometre Guia Circuit, Pinnacle Motorsport returns to defend its crown. It has recruited Enzo Deligny from France and Japanese driver Hiyu Yamakoshi. Deligny, who switches back from competing in FIA F3, was third in the FIA FR World Cup last year while Yamakoshi placed 12th.

R-ace GP brings Italian Emanuele Olivieri, the 2026 FIA FREC champion and last year’s FIA F4 World Cup runner-up, back to Macao. Rashid Al Dhaheri, who makes his fourth Guia Circuit appearance, was fourth in FIA FREC this season with three wins. The Emirati is a member of the Mercedes AMG Junior Programme.

Sixth in the 2025 FIA FR World Cup, Frenchman Evan Giltaire returns to the streets of Macao as the Super Formula Lights champion. He’ll be joined at ART Grand Prix by Japan’s Taito Kato, a strong fourth in FIA F3 this season and a former F4 French champion.

Trident Motorsport has recruited Indian Aryaman Bansal, fifth in the 2025 FIA F4 World Cup, and Poland’s Tymek Kucharczyk, a leading contender in Indy NXT, who finished 13th in the last year’s FIA FR World Cup from 24th on the grid.

TOM’S Racing’s all-Japanese line-up consists of FIA FREC race winner Yuki Sano and Kiyoshi Umegaki, third in the Super Formula Lights standings in 2026.

Mexican Ernesto Rivera, a Red Bull Junior Team driver, brings experience from FIA F3 to Macao, where he will race for the first time as part of Van Amersfoot Racing’s attack. The Dutch squad can also count on Jules Roussel, the winner of the inaugural FIA F4 World Cup one year ago.

Like Rivera, American Alex Powell is a Macau Grand Prix newcomer. However, he’ll be able to count on Prema Racing’s vast experience as he builds his knowledge. Colombian Salim Hanna, who claimed an FIA FREC race win for Prema this year, completes the Italian team’s line-up.

FIA FREC runner-up Sebastian Wheldon, from the USA, started the FIA F4 World Cup Qualification Race on pole position last season and makes his Macau Grand Prix comeback with MP Motorsport alongside Argentine team-mate Mattia Colnaghi, a Red Bull Junior driver, who finished fourth in the FIA FR World Cup in 2025.

Two of Rodin Motorsport’s three FIA FREC drivers, Alex Ninovic (Australia) and Reza Seewooruthun (Great Britain), will front its Macau Grand Prix attack, while FIA FREC race winner Maksimilian Popov joins Singapore’s Kabir Anurag at RPM.

China’s Zhenrui Chi, who competes under the Italian flag, and Italian Matteo De Palo are CL Motorsport’s Macau Grand Prix representatives with Frenchman Andrea Dupé and Kai Daryanani lining up for G4 Racing.

Kean Nakamura-Berta, a Williams F1 Team Driver Academy member, has Macau Grand Prix experience from the FIA F4 World Cup in 2025 and brings strong Formula Regional pedigree to the event after he won the Middle East title and finished third in FIA FREC in 2026. Joining the Briton at SJM Theodore Racing is American James Egozi, the winner of this year’s Eurocup-3 title.

FIA Single-Seater Commission President Emanuele Pirro said: “We’re delighted that the level of interest we’ve seen in Formula Regional Championships Certified by the FIA this year has transferred to the FIA FR World Cup where we can count on a capacity 26-car entry. But this entry list is not just about quantity, it’s also about quality and it’s certainly an entry list full of drivers with big potential for the future based on their career results so far. And with FIA Formula 3 the next step for many of the drivers taking part, this is a great opportunity for them to demonstrate their talent in a highly competitive environment and during such a prestigious occasion as the Macau Grand Prix. I’m also expecting big things from the Gen2 Formula Regional car with its push-to-pass Race Mode system, that are new for this year and will bring more excitement to the event.”

The FIA FR World Cup is a joint initiative by Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, FIA Member Club Automobile General Association Macao-China (AAMC) and the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee.

Coverage of the FIA FR World Cup will be streamed live and free of charge via the FIA’s official YouTube channel, while the event is one of four FIA-sanctioned competitions taking place during the 73rd Macau Grand Prix week along with the FIA GT World Cup, the FIA F4 World Cup and the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour.
