Young talents assemble for 2025 FIA FR World Cup
Twenty-seven of motor sport’s most promising young talents will have the honour of lining up for the second running of the FIA Formula Regional World Cup in Macau next month

From 13-16 November, emerging drivers flying 15 national flags will compete for the highly prestigious FIA FR World Cup, which ran for the first time in 2024 and was awarded the legendary Macau Grand Prix title.
Announced by the Macau Grand Prix Organising Committee in partnership with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and FIA Member Club Automobile General Association Macao-China, today (13 October), the entry list features 10 leading international single-seater teams and a capacity line-up of 27 drivers all under the age of 25.
Of the 27 preparing to take on Macau’s ultra-challenging Guia Circuit during the 72nd running of the Macau Grand Prix, six have either won or are contention to win titles in FR championships certified by the FIA, the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide.
Freddie Slater (Great Britain), Matteo De Palo (Italy) and Enzo Deligny (France) are the current top three in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) ahead of the Monza season showdown from 24-26 October.
Japanese pair Kiyoshi Umegaki and Tokiya Suzuki hold first and second in the FR Japan Championship, while Evan Giltaire, from France, is the reigning FR Middle East champion.
Mari Boya (Spain), Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak (Thailand), Theophile Naël (France), Noah Strømsted (Denmark) and Charlie Wurz (Austria) compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, two rungs below the FIA Formula One World Championship on the international single-seater ladder.
Also included on the talent-packed FIA FR World Cup entry list are several drivers with experience of Macau’s 6.120-kilometre street circuit. Among them are Italian Mattia Colnaghi, the winner of the Eurocup-3 title in 2025, Kanato Le (Japan) and Rashid Al Dhaheri (United Arab Emirates), who also has FRECA and FR Middle East experience.
Jin Nakamura (Japan) is another driver with Macau knowledge and will form part of R-ace GP’s attack, the team that guided Ugo Ugochukwu to victory in the inaugural FIA FR World Cup in 2024.
Hon Chio Leong represents Macau, the Special Administrative Region of China, and has two Guia Circuit victories on his CV, while Chinese driver Zhenrui Chi, who competes with an Italian licence, is part of the three-strong Van Amersfoort Racing line-up, which, like Trident Motorsport, is contesting its first FIA FR World Cup.
Chinese Taipei driver Enzo Yeh gained experience in the Castrol Toyota FR Oceana Championship earlier this year
Poland’s Tymek Kucharczyk leads the Euroformula Open Championship with one weekend remaining. Mexico’s José Garfias has been among his opposition this season, while American James Egozi and Austrian Oscar Wurz, younger brother of Charlie Wurz, are Eurocup-3 competitors.
Reza Seewooruthun represented Great Britain in the third FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia in 2024, while Vietnam’s Owen Tangavelou has raced in FRECA and FR Middle East in the past.
Japanese Hiyu Yamakoshi and Taito Kato, who was born in Japan but races under the French flag, have gained competition experience in FRECA. Compatriot Yuki Sano will also contest the FR World Cup.
The FIA FR World Cup’s inclusion on the Macau Grand Prix timetable is part of a long-standing and close collaboration with the Automobile General Association Macao-China and Macau Grand Prix Organising Committee.
It will be contested over a Qualification Race of 10 laps and the 15-lap Main Race. Drivers get two practice sessions and two qualifying sessions. All drivers compete in Tatuus FIA FR chassis equipped with Autotecnica-built Alfa Romeo engines.
The FIA FR World Cup will be streamed live free of charge via the FIA’s official YouTube channel. It’s one of four FIA-sanctioned competitions taking place during the 72nd Macau Grand Prix week along with the FIA GT World Cup, the Kumho Tire FIA TCR World Tour and the newly introduced FIA Formula 4 World Cup.
