18.11.25

After his FIA GT World Cup heartbreak in 2024 when a collision put him out of the victory fight in the closing laps, Antonio Fuoco hit back in style by winning the eighth edition of the event in Macau last weekend. This is what the Ferrari-powered AF Corse racer had to say.

Your first FIA GT World Cup win and Ferrari’s first FIA GT World Cup win. Especially after what happened 12 months ago, how special does this feel?
“It’s really special to win Macau, especially after last year. It's racing, so we came back this year with one goal. I think we did an amazing job through all the weekend, since the free practice, qualifying, Super Pole, and then the Qualification Race yesterday and also today. I think we managed everything really well. I would like to thank all the team, because they pushed really hard for this race, for this weekend. This victory is for all of them. I think we really deserve it after last year. I’m really happy and proud to be here today.”

We know the pace of the cars has been very strong, but also the difficult points were going to be both the start and the restart, especially with Raffaele's straight-line speed behind him. How did you approach the them and how comfortable were you?
“I think yesterday I did a good start, so I tried to repeat what I did yesterday, and then the restart, to be honest, I was a bit scared looking at the start of Lello, so I tried to manage and push really hard in the last two corners. I was able to open a bit the gap. I almost lost the car in Mandarin, but I think I was pushing really hard. Everything worked well, so again, I’m really happy with what we have done, and yeah, that’s it.”

There was a new format in Macau with the Super Pole section of qualifying. How do you think that worked out?
“Yeah, I think it was quite fun, the format that we had this weekend. It’s a really nice format, where you need to be on that point for one lap, which you need to put everything together, and already Macau is quite special, and I think this format of qualifying, it makes Macau even more special. “
