Introducing the second edition of Proyecto Luz Amarilla, sponsored by the FIA Region IV

Proyecto Luz Amarilla is a campaign to promote road safety in Latin America and the Caribbean through responsible driving
Proyecto Luz Amarilla

Proyecto Luz Amarilla was created in 2014 in a bid to increase road safety awareness in Latin America and the Caribbean, drawing inspiration from a programme of the same name (Project Yellow Light) founded by Julie Garner, an American who lost her 17-year-old son in an automobile accident in 2007. The campaign consists of a contest designed to encourage other young people to drive responsibly and reduce road accidents and fatalities.

The basic principle of this second edition of the contest has remained the same: submit your videos and save a life. Young people between the ages of 18 and 30 from Latin America and the Caribbean are invited to get creative while thinking about solving the problem of road fatalities among the 15 to 29-year-old population. By creating and submitting a short video on the importance of responsible and safe driving, they could win a trip to see professional drivers and fast cars in action at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Mexico in October, or iPad Minis.

With renewed sponsorships for this 2015 edition from the FIA Region 4, the Inter-American Development Bank, and MTV Latin America, the contest will undoubtedly receive high quality submissions. You can see last year’s winners here.

Entries should be 25 or 55 seconds in length and creative, and should not feature any highly violent or graphic footage, and be submitted by 20 September 2015. For more information on the campaign, head to proyectoluzamarillaen.sparkreel.com.
