Mercedes-AMG returns to the streets of Macau seeking to defend its FIA GT World Cup title with an accomplished three-man driver line-up under the Team GruppeM Racing banner, including two multiple winners.

Edoardo Mortara returns to the Guia street circuit with the coveted #1 plate in his grasp after claiming victory for Mercedes-AMG in 2017. One of motorsport’s most active racers, Mortara has dovetailed full seasons in the FIA Formula E and DTM with GT appearances for Mercedes in the run up to Macau.

The Swiss-Italian driver is no stranger to the top step of the podium in Macau after claiming back-to-back Formula 3 wins in 2009 and 2010, before reeling off a trio of GT Cup victories in 2011, 2012 and 2013, which coupled with last year’s success makes him the driver to beat once more.

Similarly, Maro Engel can be described as a ‘Macau master’ after securing back-to-back GT wins in 2014 and 2015. A seasoned member of the Mercedes stable with experience racing for the manufacturer in DTM and V8 Supercars, Engel has also been in contention for the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup this season driving a Mercedes-AMG GT.

Chasing his first win in Macau, Raffaele Marciello nonetheless heads to Macau on the back of a brilliant year at GT level, his first as a factory Mercedes driver. The Italian was crowned Blancpain GT Sprint Cup champion for 2018 last month and is in contention for title glory in the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup too, ensuring the Mercedes-AMG triumvirate is a formidable one.
