Esteban Guerrieri set the pace in Free Practice 2 at WTCR Race of Hungary as five customer racing brands filled the top five places at the Hungaroring

The Argentine continued ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport’s strong start to the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO round in Budapest with a time of 1m52.913, set right at the end of the 30-minute session.

He headed Comtoyou DHL Team CUPRA Racing’s Aurélien Panis by just 0.044s, with Yvan Muller another late improver to go third in his Cyan Racing Lynk & Co 03 TCR. Local hero BRC Norbert Michelisz was next in his Hyundai N Squadra Corse i30 N TCR and SLR Volkswagen’s Johan Kristoffersson completed the top five in his Golf GTI TCR.

“There is less temperature than yesterday and the track was damp at the start, so we waited for it to dry,” said Guerrieri. “It looks good and it’s positive for qualifying. Let’s see what qualifying brings.”

His team-mate Néstor Girolami looked to have knocked him from the top of the times right at the flag to repeat his free practice 1 performance, but the Honda driver lost his time for exceeding track limits. He ended up sixth fastest.

KCMG’s Attila Tassi was next in his Honda, from Leopard Racing Team Audi Sport’s Jean-Karl Vernay and Cyan Performance Lynk & Co’s Yann Ehrlacher. BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse’s Gabriele Tarquini completed the top 10.

Gordon Shedden, Frédéric Vervisch, Mikel Azcona, WTCR / OSCARO points leader Thed Björk and Nicky Catsburg completed the top 15.

The first qualifying session of WTCR Race of Hungary takes place at 11h45 local time.
