2019 WorldRX of Catalunya - Day 1

Team Hansen MJP took a second one-two finish in a row in Q2 at the Cooper Tires World RX of Catalunya, round two of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Timmy Hansen took the holeshot in Q2 Race 4 and set a second quickest time in a row to claim TQ (top qualifier) position at the end of day one. “This is amazing. From the moment we did the first runs in practice, the car has felt good, I’ve been comfortable and it felt like I’ve been building on that. The last run I did just now was one of those runs that you want to do – every corner was right, I knew what I wanted to do and the car just followed,” said Hansen. “It was a brilliant Q2 and it was a perfect Saturday, also with Kevin in second place as a team we have done a perfect Saturday, so it’s a brilliant result.”

Kevin Hansen finished second in Q2 Race 4 by overtaking GRX Taneco’s Timur Timerzyanov and Monster Energy RX Cartel’s Andreas Bakkerud when the leading drivers took their jokers on lap four. In an identical result to Q1, Timerzyanov was third in Q2. EKS Sport’s Krisztian Szabo won his first qualifying race on track in Q2 Race 3 and posted the fourth quickest time, splitting Timerzyanov and Bakkerud as GCK Academy’s Cyril Raymond added a sixth time to his eighth from Q1. GC Kompeition’s Anton Marklund won Q2 Race 1 but on an evolving track was only 10th quickest, ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport’s Timo Scheider won Race 2 and was seventh.

Sweden’s Oliver Eriksson was again quickest in the RX2 international Series in Q2, and Russia’s Arthur Egorov is top in the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600.
