2018 World RX of USA - Qualifying 4

PSRX Volkswagen Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson took the quickest time in Q4 at the World RX of USA, round ten of the FIA World Rallycross Championship but fourth quickest was enough for Petter Solberg to take TQ (top qualifier) in the Intermediate Classification.

Kristoffersson took a turn one joker lap in Q4 race three and overtook his team mate Petter Solberg and EKS Audi Sport’s Mattias Ekstrom to take the race win and the quickest time. But, because Ekstrom’s second quickest Q4 time was good enough for him remain second in the Intermediate Classification and take the Championship fight to the semi-finals today. Ekstrom’s EKS team mate Andreas Bakkerud was third as Team Peugeot Total’s Timmy Hansen repaid the work of his mechanics, who changed his Peugeot 208 WRX’s engine between Q3 and Q4, with a race win in Q4 and fifth quickest time.

Solberg and Kristoffersson will start on the front row in semi-final one this afternoon as EKS team mates Ekstrom and Bakkerud will start on the front row of semi-final two. Peugeot’s Kevin Hansen and Timmy Hansen will take row two of semi-final one and GC Kompetition’s Guerlain Chicherit and Team STARD’s Janis Baumanis will complete the semi-final one grid. Peugeot’s Sebastien Loeb and GRX Taneco’s Niclas Gronholm will share row two in semi-final two and Olsbergs MSEs and GCK’s Anton Marklund will fill row three.

GRX’s Timur Timerzyanov will be first reserve for the semi-finals should any of the 12 qualifiers not make it to pre-grid.
