2018 World RX of France - Qualifying 3

Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson slid his way to quickest time in Q3 at the World RX of France, round eight of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

With the Loheac circuit in slippery condition for the early morning Q3 session, Kristoffersson passed EKS Audi Sport’s Mattias Ekstrom to win race five and set the quickest time, with GC Kompetition’s Liam Doran second quickest in the session after sliding his way to the race three win, even though the track was drier for the later races.

Ekstrom finished second to Kristoffersson after being passed by the PSRX Volkswagen Sweden driver at the end of lap three and was third quickest, ahead of team mate Andreas Bakkerud, GRX Taneco’s Timur Timerzyanov and Olsbergs MSE’s Kevin Eriksson.

Team Peugeot Total’s Timmy Hansen won race four after a close fight with PSRX’s Petter Solberg and was seventh quickest, but home hero Sebastien Loeb had a problem at the start of the race and finished 18th. The nine-time World Rally Champion is 12th in the Intermediate Classification ahead of Q4 later today and is at risk of not making the semi-finals.

Muennich Motorsport’s Timo Scheider started in Q3 race one and was the first driver to discover how slippery T2 was in race conditions, he hit the wall on the outside of the corner and his Seat Ibiza got stuck in the gravel track.
