Saudi set for inaugural FIA Extreme H World Cup
The FIA Extreme H World Cup is ready for action with 16 drivers and eight teams set to do battle in the desert and terrains of Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia, this weekend (9-11 October).

Showcasing cutting-edge hydrogen technology in a ruthless racing environment, the FIA Extreme H World Cup pairs one female and one male driver in each of the eight teams.
A unique sporting format will see teams piloting rugged offroad Pioneer 25 machines across three disciplines – Time Trials, Head-to-Head and Multi-Car – culminating in the eight-car World Cup Final on Saturday afternoon.
With innovation, equality and competition at the centre of Extreme H’s legacy, the scene is now set deep in the Tuwaiq mountains. Testing has taken place across the last two days with the high-quality driver lineup primed and ready for the opening day of competitive action.
Thursday’s Time Trials will see each driver complete a flying lap, with combined times setting standings across two heats.
Head-to-Head battles commence on Friday with short side-by-side, high-drama races – 16 heats will narrow the field to the knockout Semi-Finals and Finals.
Saturday begins with the first Multi-Car races, as the points continue to accrue across three days of competition.
The final World Cup Pool points table will then decide the grid for the eight-car Final, a race that will determine the FIA Extreme H World Cup winner.
Fans can watch all of the action LIVE and free-to-air on the DAZN television network and keep up to date with the latest news via www.fiaextremeh.com
Emilia Abel, FIA Road Sport Director, said: “We are at the beginning of an important new technological journey with the FIA Extreme H World Cup this week in Qiddiya. As the first ever FIA-sanctioned hydrogen-powered motor sport competition, Extreme H sets a marker for innovation and underscores the FIA’s commitment to pioneering the technologies of the future.
“With the hydrogen-powered cars piloted by a crew of one male and one female driver per team, this FIA World Cup sends an important message not only for sustainability but also accessibility. Add to this the unique sporting format that will test the skills of the drivers across multiple different competitive arenas. Working closely with our colleagues at the SAMF and the event promoter, I am sure that we will see some close battles before we crown the inaugural FIA Extreme H World Cup winners on Saturday.”
