Practice 2 - Chevrolet cars set the pace

04.05.13
A trio of Chevrolet drivers – Yvan Muller, Tom Chilton and James Nash – topped the time sheet in the second free practice of the day at the Hungaroring.

Once again it was Norbert Michelisz who set the early pace with a provisional fastest lap of 1:54.998. However, halfway through the session, the RML duo of Chilton and Muller demoted him to third. Chilton clocked the time of 1:54.923 that was suddenly beaten by Muller’s 1:54.704.

Most of the other drivers improved in the second half of the session though none was able to shake the first two positions. Eventually James Nash climbed to third and Rob Huff placed himself in fourth with laps of 1:54.934 and 1:54.937 respectively.

Michelisz did not improve and ranked fifth, ahead of Tom Coronel (1:55.516), Tiago Monteiro and Gabriele Tarquini; curious enough, the two Castrol Honda team-mates set the very same lap time of 1:54.547.

Following a disappointing first session, James Thompson’s LADA improved by 1.5 seconds, ranking ninth fastest (1:55.845), with Michel Nykjær in tenth (1:55.937).

Once again a few drivers found difficult to respect track limits; Stefano D’Aste and Hugo Valente were shown the black flag for repeated infringements.
