Policy Dialogue on Automobile and Better Mobility 2025 Successfully Concludes in Nepal
The Policy Dialogue on Automobile and Better Mobility 2025, organised by the Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA - Nepal) on 2–3 August 2025 at the Royal Tulip Kathmandu, gathered 93 policymakers, industry leaders, and academic representatives to discuss the future of Nepal’s mobility sector, road safety and sustainable transport solutions.

During the opening session, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, commended NASA Nepal for its active role in advancing mobility initiatives that complement the government’s efforts. He confirmed that the formulation of the Road Safety Act is in its final stage and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prioritising road safety.
Keynote speakers included Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Chairperson of the Asia Pacific Road Safety Observatory, Sushil Babu Dhakal, FIA Region II President and President of the Automobile Association of Vietnam and AIP Foundation, Greig Craft, Secretary General of the Federation of Indian Automobile Associations and the Western India Automobile Association, Ranjit Kaur Virk, and Director of the School of Automotive at NAMTECH India Dr. K.C. Vohra.
The two-day event featured sessions on road safety, sustainable mobility, innovation, and policy development, with contributions from government officials, legislators, researchers, and representatives from the private sector. Discussions covered topics such as helmet use, electric mobility, road classification, ride-sharing, and cross-border connectivity.
On the occasion, Traffic Campaigner Shekhar Chandra Rai received the National Road Safety Award, presented by Minister Devendra Dahal, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to road safety.
NASA Nepal also announced the establishment of a Motoring Academy and the launch of Evision Nepal, two new initiatives aimed at strengthening road safety and mobility development in the country.
According to Govinda Bhattarai, NASA General Secretary and member of the FIA World Council for Automobile Mobility and Tourism, the dialogue marks “a new chapter in making Nepal’s automobile sector more reliable, professional, and globally recognised”.
