- Lenovo has achieved the maximum 3-star rating under the FIA Road Safety Index for its road logistics operations in China, making it the first Chinese organisation to receive this recognition.
- Through the FIA Road Safety Index, the FIA supports companies such as Lenovo in driving measurable improvements in road safety across complex global supply chains.

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has announced at the FIA Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai that Lenovo has achieved the maximum 3-star rating under the FIA Road Safety Index for its road logistics operations in China, making it the first Chinese organisation to receive this recognition.
Developed by the FIA, with the support of the FIA Foundation, the FIA Road Safety Index gives organisations worldwide a data-driven methodology to assess, manage, report, and improve their road safety footprint. The Index helps organisations turn road safety commitments into measurable action and accountability by identifying risks, implementing targeted improvements, and strengthening transparency in ESG reporting.
Lenovo is a global technology leader and a Fortune Global 500 company operating in more than 180 markets. With a highly diversified global supply chain integrating manufacturing, warehousing and transportation across multiple regions, road logistics play a critical role in the company’s operations.
Through its participation in the FIA Road Safety Index, Lenovo assessed its road safety management approach across its Chinese logistics operations. The company demonstrated a strong commitment to improving road safety through structured governance, a strong understanding of operational risks, robust occupational health and safety policies, and clear safety requirements embedded within procurement contracts and supplier engagement.
This approach demonstrates how organisations with complex supply chains can take a proactive role in improving road safety across their logistics activities.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: “Work-related road crashes remain one of the leading risks facing organisations worldwide. Companies with complex logistics networks have a unique opportunity to drive change at scale, delivering safer standards across their operations and supply chains. Lenovo is demonstrating how the private sector can help drive meaningful progress towards safer roads for everyone.”
FIA Secretary General for Automobile Mobility and Sustainability Willem Groenewald said: “Understanding where road risk exists across complex operations is a critical step towards improving the safety of employees and all road users. By applying the FIA Road Safety Index methodology, Lenovo has gained clearer insight into its road safety footprint and can better manage these risks to ultimately help save lives.”
Lenovo Vice President WW PCSD Customer Fulfillment & Global Logistics Russell A Shimp said: "Lenovo is honoured to receive the 3-star rating from the FIA Road Safety Index. As the first Chinese company to achieve this recognition and a pioneer in the ICT industry in applying the Index to large-scale logistics operations, we are pleased to see our commitment to sustainability, supply-chain safety, and the well-being of our employees and partners acknowledged on this global stage.
“As a global organisation, we are mindful of the impact our activities have on the world. This achievement reinforces our responsibility to lead by example. We continue to refine our practices every day, striving to ensure that our path toward innovation is always a path toward greater safety for everyone.”
