Following a season of intense competition, the FIA Off-Road Awards were held in Porto, Portugal, recognising the 2025 champions of the FIA’s Cross Car, Autocross and Rallycross championships. The ceremony was hosted by the Federação Portuguesa de Automobilismo e Karting (FPAK), which welcomed representatives from across the international off-road community.
Opening the ceremony through a recorded video message, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: "I would like to thank President Ni Amorim for hosting this important event. Congratulations to all our 2025 champions across the FIA Off-Road Championships.
These awards mark the first since the FIA invested directly in elite Rallycross and demonstrate our long-term commitment and belief in a strong and sustainable future for the discipline. At the same time, we remain focused on access and opportunity to open the door to new drivers and new nations, I am confident that the future of FIA Off-Road is bright.”
FIA Off-Road Commission President Wlodek Szaniawski added: “I want to congratulate all our winners. It has been an exciting season across the FIA Off-Road categories, particularly in Autocross, where more than 100 drivers competed at each event and the championship delivered a dramatic conclusion. In Rallycross, demand continues to grow and I am confident we will see even more spectacular competition in 2026.
Cross Car entries have increased by more than 50 percent, new organisers are seeking to join the calendar, and we expect continued growth in entries, audience and overall popularity across our Off-Road championships.”
FPAK President Ni Amorim added: “It was a pleasure for FPAK to host and organise this ceremony in Porto, honouring the champions and recognising the national clubs that dedicate themselves each year to organising events in Lousada and Foz Côa. It is especially rewarding to see a Portuguese driver recognised on the European Rallycross stage. João Ribeiro is an inspiration to younger drivers, and we hope he continues to achieve success internationally.”
The ceremony also recognised the FIA European Junior Cross Car Championship, which remains a key entry point into international off-road competition. In 2025, Spanish drivers secured all three podium positions, with Abel González Vial crowned Champion ahead of Oscar Fuertes Hernandez and Iago Rodriguez Lopez.
In the FIA European Cross Car Championship, which attracted close to 100 drivers across the season, Ivan Piña Chinchilla claimed overall honours following a dominant campaign. He was joined on the podium by David Meat in second and Yoann Gillouin in third.
Autocross once again demonstrated its depth and geographical reach, with strong participation across all categories. In the FIA European Autocross Championship – Junior Buggy, Malone Feuillade secured the title, ahead of Ladislav Hanák and Eliška Plná.
The FIA European Autocross Championship – Buggy 1600 saw a closely contested season culminate in victory for Jakub Novotný, with René Mandel second and Danny Van Den Berg third.
In the premier FIA European Autocross Championship - SuperBuggy category, Zdeněk Antony was crowned Champion following a consistent campaign, joined on the podium by Petr Nikodém and Robert Theuil.
Collective national performance was also recognised, with the Czech Republic awarded the FIA European Autocross and Cross Car Nations Cup, reflecting the continued strength of the disciplines within the country.
The award for Best Organiser in the FIA European Autocross and Cross Car Championships was presented to Saint Igny de Vers, acknowledging operational excellence and sustained commitment to delivering high-quality competition.
Cross Car and Autocross remain central to the FIA’s off-road development pyramid, serving as both standalone international disciplines and structured pathways into other tiers of elite competition. Calendar growth further underlines this strength, with the Autocross Championship set to expand from 10 to 12 events in 2026.
In the FIA European Rallycross Championship - RX3, Portugal’s João Ribeiro secured the title following a hard-fought campaign against emerging contenders Rytis Gurklys and Nicolas Geleyns. In Euro RX1, Volland Racing’s Yury Belevskiy claimed overall honours after a closely contested season, finishing ahead of Damian Litwinowicz and Mika Liimatainen.
At world championship level, the FIA World Rallycross Championship for Drivers concluded with Johan Kristoffersson securing his eighth World title, extending one of the most dominant records in the sport’s history. Niclas Grönholm finished second in the standings, with Ole Christian Veiby third, with team honours were awarded to Kristoffersson Motorsport.
The award for Best Organiser across the FIA World and European Rallycross Championships was presented to Clube Automóvel de Lousada, recognising the organiser’s continued commitment to operational excellence and the high-quality delivery of the season-opening World RX of Portugal.
The awards also carried special significance, marking the first full year of competition since the FIA assumed direct operational responsibility for elite rallycross. Since taking on this role, the FIA has prioritised sporting stability and fan accessibility, delivering a full season of free-to-watch global coverage of the championship.
With champions recognised and the 2025 season concluded, attention now turns to 2026. Continued calendar growth, regulatory refinement and sustained investment across the FIA Off-Road pyramid underline the Federation’s objective: to ensure a stable, accessible and competitive future for off-road motor sport at every level.
