INTERESTING FACTS

The FIA Formula 3 European Championship stages its third round of the season at the Norisring this weekend. Following the races in Pau and at the Hungaroring, the star-of-tomorrow series returns to a street circuit, the only one in Germany. The mere 2.3 kilometre long track in Nuremberg is characterised by its long straights and two hairpin bends. With Mick Schumacher (PREMA Theodore Racing), Keyvan Soori Andres (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Julian Hanses (ma-con), Motopark and ma- con, three drivers and two teams from Germany will be starting. Enaam Ahmed (Hitech Bullfrog GP) travels to Germany as championship leader in both the overall and rookie standings. Going into the third of ten rounds this season, the Briton holds an 18-point lead over Guanyu Zhou (PREMA Theodore Racing, photo) who is followed closely by Daniel Ticktum (Team Motopark) ahead of Sacha Fenestraz (Carlin). Only one driver in the field has already tasted victory at the Norisring: the Indian Jehan  Daruvala (Carlin) who was in 2017 the first Indian driver to win a race in FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Excitement will be guaranteed: so far there are five different winners in the first six races. The organisers expect more than 100,000 fans who can see from the large stone grandstand almost the entire route. The fact that the races are usually held in midsummer, contributes to the magnificent atmosphere between Grundig turn and Dutzendteich.
