Entries open online for 2018 FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup

23.07.18

Second edition set to return to Daiba, Tokyo, on 2-4 November

The FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup has today, 23 July, opened its online application process for entries. The event will be the second FIA-sanctioned international drifting competition and will be held in Daiba, in the heart of Tokyo, from 2-4 November 2018.

Last year, a total of 24 drivers from 14 countries participated at the inaugural event, which represented an exciting first step in creating a top-level competition for this rapidly growing discipline. With a great deal of interest already received from potential entrants and drifting series promoters around the world, the 2018 FIA IDC Tokyo Drift is expected to be even bigger and more spectacular the second time around.

The event is organised by the FIA in partnership with the Sunpros organisation, promotors of the world famous D1 Grand prix series.

Born in the 1970’s on the flowing mountain roads of Japan, Drifting is one of the fastest growing motor sport disciplines around the world, finding a wide audience amongst a younger generation of fans. The inaugural event was won by two-time D1GP champion Masato Kawabata of Japan, who will be back to defend his title in 2018.

Entries should be made via the official event website - www.fiadriftingcup.com - which includes further information on the conditions for entry

The deadline for entries will be 31 August 12:00(UTC), after which time, a selection committee will review the applications and the entry list for the event will then be published by 10 September.
