ANETA receives FIA Environmental Accreditation

04.08.20

The Automobile Club of Ecuador (ANETA) has achieved two-star FIA Environmental Accreditation. This accreditation is granted by the FIA to Clubs demonstrating outstanding care and respect for the environment in their daily operations.

The process began in April last year with ANETA's commitment to promote a culture of sustainable mobility in Ecuador and to implement strict processes of good environmental practices in its 31 driving schools.

In this first stage of certification, ANETA has been awarded two stars as it submitted and met the requirements of FIA. The second stage, in which it would receive the third and last star, will be achieved upon successful completion of an in-person FIA audit. Due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, this has had to be suspended until further notice.

ANETA has been selected by the FIA due to the its implementation and promotion of sustainable mobility in Ecuador. The Club has developed a number of initiatives in this area through the creation of a department specifically dedicated to these issues.

This department has developed and put into action its Environmental Practices Manual for the organization. It also incorporated Nissan Leaf electric vehicles in its driving schools and created the Electric Karting School to encourage electric sports in the country.

ANETA also works in the Galapagos Islands in coordination with local authorities to implement sustainable mobility and wildlife protection projects.

The other two selected automobile organisations that have carried out accreditation programmes are from NAF from Norway and RAC WA from Australia.
