ACM LAUNCHES DONATION PLATFORM FOR CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS

18.05.18

The Automobile Club of Moldova (ACM) launched Baby4baby.org, a donation platform for used Child Restraint Systems (CRS) by families. Its core aim is to help low-income families with many children who may face difficulties in purchasing CRS for each child. The creation of this platform is part of the “Kind Child Restraint” project funded as part of the FIA Road Safety Grants Programme.

On 17-18 May 2018, ACM hosted FIA Members Clubs – BKA Belarus, LAMB Latvia, LAS Lithuania and ACR Romania – for the presentation and launch of the platform.

Daniel Ballmann, from the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS), gave attendees a technical training on correct child restraint use, and how to properly check the safety performance of used CRS.

ACM and BKA project managers, Tatiana Mihailova and Irina Potyakina presented “Kind child restraint” activities in Moldova and Belarus, and the baby4baby.org and dobroekreslo.by platforms.

Other participating Clubs shared good practices, updates on the projects they are working on and national legislation on CRS use in their countries.

On May 18, ACM held the official launch of the platform involving the National Patrolling Inspectorate Chief Livii Baziuc, local stakeholders representing the Police, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Autoblog.md, family web-portals Mama.md and Suntparinte.md, local mass media and two large families who became the first beneficiaries of CRS donations.

Daniel Ballmann made a presentation and in-vehicle demonstration of the importance of proper use and installation of different categories of CRS.

The initiative is supported and encouraged by parliamentary speaker Andrian Candu - Road Safety Ambassador of Moldova - who kindly donated a child seat on behalf of his family.

The launch was covered by national TV channel, newspapers, radio and blogs.
