European Rally Championship

SEASON 2018

FIA European Rally Championship

With the first FIA European Rally Championship contested in 1953, the ERC is the oldest international rally series in the world. Events take place between January and November on asphalt, gravel, ice and snow with competitive distances ranging from 200 to 230 kilometres.

There are titles for drivers, co-drivers and teams including the prestigious overall ERC crown, ERC2 and ERC3. The ERC Junior Championship, for drivers born on or after 1 January 1988 in R2 cars on Michelin tyres, was introduced in 2014, and has become extremely popular. The ERC Ladies’ Trophy and Colin McRae ERC Flat Out Trophy are up for grabs on every event.

Drivers count their best seven scores from the 10 qualifying rounds. ERC Juniors count their best four scores from the six nominated events. ERC Ladies count their best four scores.

ERC registered and FIA priority drivers take part in Free Practice before contesting a Qualifying Stage to determine the starting order for leg one. Shakedown is available for all other drivers and priority drivers once the Qualifying Stage parc fermé opens.
