This morning, the 2.300 kilometres long Norisring welcomed the drivers of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with rain, but that didn’t trouble Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort Racing). In difficult conditions, the Monegasque rookie won from stalwarts Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) and Felix Rosenqvist (Prema Powerteam). With his fourth victory of the season, Leclerc extended his lead in the drivers’ standings. He is now 39.5 points clear of Felix Rosenqvist, who moved up into second place.

Nico Rosberg set the quickest time of the final day of Formula One’s final in-season test, finishing eight tenths of a second ahead of Ferrari test driver Esteban Gutierrez at the Red Bull Ring. Williams race driver Valtteri Bottas was third just under a tenth of a second further back.

After 288 days, 315 laps, nine thrilling races and seven different winners, this weekend sees the climatic end to the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship, where the world’s first all-electric champion will be crowned. London’s Battersea Park will play host to the final two rounds (10 & 11) of the series on June 27 and 28 – marking the return of top level motorsport to the British capital for more than 40 years – where six drivers remain in the running to lift the title crown.
