Following the postponement or cancellation of all but two of the nine rounds of the 2020 FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship (EHSRC) due to the global Covid19 pandemic, the FIA World Motor Sport Council has approved a revised five round 2020 championship beginning in Austria in September and concluding in Spain at the end of November.

The no1 Lancia Delta Integrale of ‘Lucky’ and Fabrizia Pons heads the field on the ninth and final round of the 2019 FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship, the Mecsek Rallye in Hungary. Conditions on the six stages were slippery after heavy rain yesterday, but with the sun shining and the temperatures soaring, the competitors put on a great show on the first day of the Mecsek Rally.

The entry list for the Mecsek Rallye in Hungary this weekend has been revealed, with 22 of the 42 entries eligible for Round 9 of the 2019 FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship. With seven of the nine titles still to be won, all of the leading contenders for the unclaimed category titles will be in Pécs on the 10-12 October.

With only the best six of the nine scores counting towards the title, adding a further element to the drama that will unfold in Hungary.

The first six stages have been completed on the XXXI Rally Elba Storico, Round 8 of the 2019 European Historic Sporting Rally Championship and Italian duo ‘Zippo’ and Nicola Arena are the leading EHSRC entry. The Category 3 Audi Quattro completed the first six stages in 4 th overall, and 1 st in class, behind three local crews, 51.4 seconds behind the overall leader Alberto Salvini in the no4 Porsche 911 RS.
