WRC/World RX: WRC Promoter and Rallycross Promoter achieve FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation
WRC Promoter – alongside sister company Rallycross Promoter – has achieved three-star environmental accreditation from motor sport’s governing body, the FIA.
Aimed at helping motorsport and mobility stakeholders worldwide to measure and enhance their environmental performance, the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme is an environmental management certification system consisting of a three-level framework, of which the Promoters have achieved the highest level.
This is just the latest step on WRC and Rallycross Promoters’ journey towards a more sustainable future, adhering to the same environmental benchmark it pushes its stakeholders to aspire to.
The acknowledgment came from the FIA following an on-site audit in the Promoters’ Munich offices from an independent FIA-appointed auditor with International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) experience.
The auditor evaluated the solidity and implementation of the Promoters’ environmental management system to address environmental management principles and key impact areas. The audit results highlighted best practices in the fields of communication, through to the development of Beyond Rally as an umbrella platform for sustainability initiatives and biodiversity, with clear commitments and tools to safeguard internationally protected areas in the framework of WRC and ERC sporting activities.
This follows on from the WRC becoming the first FIA World Championship to mandate three-star environmental accreditation for event organisers, back in 2016.
In the meantime, both Promoters continue to work closely with their stakeholders to create more sustainable events. To assist with this, the Promoters have introduced a Carbon Footprint Tool aimed at assisting rally and race organisers to measure their carbon impact, as well offering a sustainability support package with guidelines, templates and tools for event organisers.
