WEC – Toyota Back In Front after FP3

Toyota Gazoo Racing set the pace in the final free practice session ahead of qualifying for the 4 Hours of Shanghai. Kamui Kobayashi set the fastest lap of the weekend so far in No.7 Toyota TS050 HYBRID with a 1m47.184s on his first flying lap of 60-minute session that was cut short by a red flag for debris on track, with just three minutes left on the clock.

Team LNT continue their strong form in China with second and third positions, with the no5 Ginetta one second behind the no7 Toyota and 0.4 seconds ahead of the sister car. The no1 Rebellion Racing r13 fourth quickest with a 1m49.450s lap.  The no8 Toyota Gazoo Racing entry only 10th overall is session after team decide not to run qualifying simulation.

LMGTE Pro sees Porsche top times as Michael Christensen sets early session time of 1m58.786s in the no92 911 RSR-19.  The no51 AF Corse Ferrari of James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi was second fastest, 0.8s adrift of leading Porsche, with Aston Martin Racing third and fourth as no95 Vantage heads no97 machine.

Nyck de Vries set the fastest LMP2 lap of the weekend so, with the no29 Racing Team Nederland Oreca lapping the Shanghai track in 1m49.637s.  The Dutch team headed the LMP2 time sheets 0.1 seconds ahead of the no37 Jackie DC Racing Oreca-Gibson and two tenths ahead of the no38 Jota entry.

The no56 Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR tops LMGTE Am as Matteo Cairoli laps in 2m00.109s. The no98 Aston Martin Racing Vantage was 0.470s behind the lead Porsche and half a second in front of the no88 Dempsey Proton Racing Porsche.

Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Shanghai is due to start with the LMGTE session at 14h00 (Local) / 07h00 CET
