WEC - Audi Fastest Ahead of Qualifying in Shanghai

The no8 Audi Sport Team Joest Audi R18 was the quickest car on track during the final Free Practice session ahead of qualifying for the 6 Hours of Shanghai.  Oliver Jarvis set a 1m44.505 lap, nine hundredths of a second quicker than the best time in the previous practice sessions, and 0.314s ahead of the no6 Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 of Mike Conway.

Championship leaders Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb were third fastest with Lieb posting a 1m44.913.  The no7 Audi was 4th, the no1 Porsche 5th and the no5 Toyota 6th.  The no13 Rebellion was once again the quicker of the two LMP1 Privateers.

Championship leader Nicolas Lapierre posted the best time in LMP2 in the no36 SIgnatech Alpine A460, shaving nearly 0.3 seconds off the best time set by the no26 G Drive Racing Oreca yesterday.

The no66 Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK Ford GT of Olivier Pla was the faster of the seven LMGTE Pro entries, the Frenchman lowering the best time of the weekend so far by over one second with a 2m01.329 lap time.  He was 0.715 seconds ahead of the no97 Aston Martin Racing Vantage of Richie Stanaway, with the no95 Aston Martin of Nicki Thiim another three tenths behind.

The no98 Aston Martin Racing Vantage finished the final practice session at the top of the time sheets, with Pedro Lamy setting a 2m03.845 lap, 0.334 seconds ahead of championship rival Emmanuel Collard in the no83 AF Corse Ferrari.

Qualifying for the penultimate round of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship will take place at 13h30 (local) / 06h30 (CET) with the LMGTE competitor taking to the track first followed 30 minutes later by the LMP teams and drivers.
