The FIA’s Solidarity Programme, launched in 2020 as a support to its member clubs during the global COVID-19 pandemic, is set to continue throughout 2021.

The aim of the Solidarity Programme is to ensure all sporting clubs survive the impact of the pandemic and are equipped to start 2022 stronger and more agile.

In 2020, the FIA awarded a record number of 136 Sport Grants, totalling €5.6 million, to help support our member clubs with a range of project to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 and to restart motor sport.

In 2021, applications for the Sport Grant Programme will open early in June for projects to be implemented in 2022, but for those clubs who need urgent emergency assistance for business continuity, grants can be requested before the official applications window to ensure that help can be provided when it is needed.  Clubs should raise any concerns which will be dealt with confidentially and sensitively.

As in 2020, the grant programme will maintain a flexible approach with clubs able to apply for one project or a range of options to suit their specific needs.

The FIA is committed to providing ongoing support for all its members. With the advent of the vaccination programme there is cause for cautious optimism and we hope that all our members will be in a better position as we move into 2022.  To help with this, we are providing our clubs with a range of support services throughout 2021 as they restart motor sport.

Graham Stoker, FIA Deputy President for Sport, said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has touched all of our lives and had a profound effect on our global motor sport family. Through initiatives such as the FIA Solidarity Programme we have been able to support our ASNs and clubs in restarting activity at grass roots and national level and building confidence among the entire motor sport ecosystem.

“The Solidarity Programme underlines the FIA’s commitment to stimulating that restart process. With vaccine programmes gathering pace across the world in the ongoing battle against the pandemic, we hope that throughout 2021 we can take the first significant steps towards a return to normality.”
