Seychelles Karting Association Leads by Example with ‘Clean Up the World’ Campaign

The Seychelles Karting Association (SKA) has reaffirmed its environmental commitment by actively participating in the nation’s Annual Clean Up the World Campaign. The initiative reflects SKA’s alignment with the FIA’s environmental targets and its ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into all aspects of its operations.

Clean Up the World has been a nationwide movement in Seychelles since the mid-1990s, coordinated locally by the Ministry of Environment. Each September, communities, schools, NGOs, and businesses unite to restore beaches and public spaces. The campaign, part of a global initiative founded in Australia in 1993, promotes grassroots environmental action and sustainable living.

In this spirit, SKA mobilised its members, families, and supporters at the Roche Caiman Sports Complex, home to the country’s only karting circuit. Volunteers carried out a large-scale clean-up of the surrounding beach and mangrove areas, while also improving the karting facility itself through store organisation and the planting of new greenery. These efforts not only enhanced the venue’s environmental footprint but also reinforced the ASN’s role as a community leader in sustainability.

This activity forms part of SKA’s 2025 environmental targets, developed following its achievement of the FIA 1-Star Environmental Accreditation earlier this year.

A spokesperson for the Seychelles Karting Association said:

“Motor sport has the power to inspire change both on and off the track. Our participation in Clean Up the World is a reflection of our belief that environmental stewardship must go hand-in-hand with sporting excellence.”

Through initiatives like this, SKA continues to set a strong example for small island nations and emerging motor sport communities, showing that environmental action and motorsport development can progress together.
