This project marks the first application of the iRAP star rating methodology in Uzbekistan to assess and improve school zone safety. Using Tashkent School No. 60 as a pilot, the initiative identified infrastructure gaps and implemented physical safety upgrades using local contractors and materials. The project successfully improved the school’s safety rating, built local technical capacity, and secured commitment from authorities to prioritize data-driven interventions. This model serves as a scalable framework to reduce traffic risks for schoolchildren nationwide.
