Palestinian Federation Marks Return to Motor Sport with Amateur Race Championship in Jericho

The Palestinian Motorsport and Motorcycle Federation conducted its first amateur race championship of 2026 on 15 May at Al-Istiqlal University in Jericho, a significant milestone in the federation's efforts to support and develop motor sport across Palestine.

Spectators filled the grandstands to watch 45 drivers who qualified to compete following a selection process, reflecting the growing participation in the sport within Palestine. Amir Badah ultimately secured first place in the overall standings, demonstrating exceptional skill and consistency throughout the championship.

The event was enabled by the FIA’s Motorsport Funding Programme which funded essential safety and technical equipment used to stage the even which offers a platform for emerging talent in Palestine to showcase their skill and global potential.

Abdallah Al Shaarawi, President of the Palestinian Motorsport and Motorcycle Federation, said: "These events serve as an important platform for discovering and developing local talent while promoting a structured and professional motor sport environment in Palestine."

The championship forms part of a motor sport growth and development strategy led by the federation with further events scheduled over coming months.
