Latest WMSC decisions about Historic Motor Sport
The World Motor Sport Council reappointed Paolo Cantarella and HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark as President and Vice-President, respectively, of the FIA Historic Motor Sport Commission for the year 2016. Next year’s Commission will have 27 members, representing the ASNs of Belgium, Monaco, Luxemburg, Spain, France, Sweden, Ukraine, Austria, Czech Republic, Ireland, Great Britain, Greece, Lebanon, Hungary, Germany, Turkey, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Finland, Mexico, Australia, the United States and Saudi Arabia. These members will be joined by two manufacturers’ representatives (Porsche and Ferrari) and the President of the FIA Historic Technical Working Group, whose appointment becomes effective in March 2016.
Amendments have been made to the regulations of various FIA Historic Championships. A Nations Cup will be established as part of the FIA Historic Hill Climb Championship final. The Sporting Regulations of the FIA Trophy for Historic Regularity Rallies have been clarified in order to separate potential dead heats. The format of the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship events was reviewed: two races will take place during the six events on the 2016 calendar, however Championship points will be allocated for each race, thereby replacing the one overall combined classification obtained by adding together the two races, as was the case for the past few years.
The 2016 Historic Championship calendars have been approved. The European Historic Sporting Rally Championship will have 11 events in 2016 (link to the Sporting Regulations here), as opposed to the 15 in 2015, while the Trophy for Historic Regularity Rallies will be made up of eight competitions (link to the Sporting Regulations here).
