The 2026 Latin American Karting Championship brought together some of the region's most promising young drivers recently in Costa Rica, one of Latin America's emerging motor sport hubs. Held from 15–17 May at the P1 Speedway circuit, the event added to a growing calendar of regional competitions supporting the FIA President's mission to double motor sport participation globally.

Organised in collaboration between the Automobile Club of Costa Rica, the FIA's Member Club in the country, the Costa Rican Karting Drivers Association (ACEK) and the P1 Speedway project, the championship welcomed more than 180 drivers from 18 countries, reflecting the rising participation, depth of talent and competitiveness of karting and grassroots motor sport across the continent.

The event also marked a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to strengthen regional motor sport infrastructure, driver development programmes and collaboration among FIA Member Clubs. Competitions such as the Latin American Karting Championship are a key way in which Member Clubs grow the sport and open new pathways for the next generation of drivers.

Daniel Coen, FIA Vice President for Sport – North America, said: "To welcome more than 180 drivers from 18 nations is a remarkable achievement and a clear sign of how rapidly karting is growing across the Americas. I congratulate everyone involved in making this championship such a success and for the vision in developing the infrastructure, the talent pathways and the regional cooperation needed to take our sport forward.”
