An experienced driver who made his debut in KF2 in 2007, the Pole Karol Basz is a regular at the front of international races. Ranked 5th in the World KF1 Championship in 2011, he finished fourth this year in the KF European Championship and the World Championship. The KF International Super Cup run at Sarno gave him his first win in a CIK-FIA race.

"I was very well prepared for this event. From qualifying, despite difficult conditions, I saw that my equipment was very competitive and I was able to get pole position. During the heats, in the rain, it was not easy, even though we were very quick at Sarno. I kept my position anyway. In the Prefinal, the track was dry but slippery and I had very good speed and won easily.

"In the final, everything worked well, but Nielsen joined me. I let him go and I waited a few laps gently keeping my tyres cool. I understood that he had asked a lot of his tyres to catch me and he was now less effective. I led the last four laps and managed the situation until the end, closing the doors in the final laps. The win was decided at the last corner, but I really wanted it and wasn't going to concede!"
