Head-to-Head success for Team STARD

10.10.25

The FIA Extreme H World Cup continued apace in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia, today (10 October) with short, sharp and dramatic Head-to-Head battles bringing the action.

Side-by-side races, where drivers had to navigate a technical chicane and jump before the finish led to some of the closest battles ever seen in extreme racing. Sixteen Heats whittled the field down to four teams that progressed to knockout Semi-Finals and Final.

Team STARD (Amanda Sorensen/Patrick O’Donovan) narrowly won an exciting Final, but it was Jameel Motorsport (Molly Taylor/Kevin Hansen) that scored the most points across the day as they moved to the summit of the overall standings.

Between them, Hansen and Taylor incredibly won all four of their Heats and the trend continued into the Semi-Final, with the former producing a fantastic performance to see off the challenge from Carl Cox Motorsport’s Timo Scheider.

Team STARD won three of four Heats and when O’Donovan beat JBX Powered by Team Monaco’s Christine GZ in the second Semi-Final, the scene was set for an enthralling finale.

It was to be an all-female occasion as Jameel Motorsport’s Taylor took on Team STARD’s Sorensen in a bid to win today’s Head-to-Head medal.

The dynamic duo ran side-by-side for much of the drag race, but it was Sorensen that clinched victory by just 0.234s at the finish line.

It was a double celebration of sorts with Jameel’s near perfect record during the day helping them to the top of the standings table

After day two of three, the Jameel Motorsport pairing lead by six points from Hansen Motorsport’s Andreas Bakkerud and Catie Munnings, with a further four teams tied for third place just a point further back.

So, it’s all still to play for with one day of competition remaining. Saturday’s action will commence with four-car races, with the points table eventually culminating in an eight-car grid for the FIA Extreme H World Cup Final.

Patrick O’Donovan, Team STARD, said: “Absolutely amazing. A roller coaster of emotions kind of day. We started off pretty strong, I got some great results and then in the final Amanda (Sorensen) had an absolutely amazing race with Molly (Taylor). It was epic, they were neck and neck – until I actually saw the graphic come up on the TV screen, I had no idea who won! Everyone in Team STARD did an amazing job and I’m pretty happy with my own performance.”

Amanda Sorensen, Team STARD, said: “Yesterday, we didn't have the greatest day, so we knew today we had to put our heads down and really come in super strong. It was such a close call going to the finals, but I knew we had to keep it nice and tidy, no big risks. So, super excited about the finish, and I'm hoping for all the best going into tomorrow’s eight-car final for the FIA Extreme H World Cup.”
