Sharing the objective of promoting smarter and more sustainable mobility across Latin American cities, the FIA will join the second edition of the LATAM Mobility Summit in Mexico City organised during the week of the Formula E race.

The FIA, together with OiER (Organization for International Economic Relations), will organise a joint panel discussion at the LATAM Mobility Summit on Thursday 14 February. Participants will hear about the framework of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate cities efforts to become smarter, more sustainable and more inclusive. The session will feature achievements of the United Smart Cities Program and successful city case studies across Latin America. Concrete examples of private sector initiatives will also be presented.

The discussion will continue on the following day at the FIA Smart Cities Forum, taking place at the Formula E hospitality area. Launched in 2017, FIA Smart Cities was created to contribute to the implementation of the UN New Urban Agenda by helping cities define new models for more sustainable urban mobility. Serving as a platform for knowledge generation and information exchange at the crossroads of Sport and Mobility, FIA Smart Cities is composed of three pillars: the FIA Smart Cities Forum, the FIA Smart Cities Award, and the FIA Smart Cities Global Start-up Contest.

United Smart Cities (USC) is the Global Smart City Platform accelerating the United Nations mission to transform city infrastructures to sustainable technologies. Co-Initiated in 2014 by the Organization for International Economic Relations (OiER) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), USC is focused on helping the world reach the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals by speeding up the city transformation process. A global network reaching 1,000 cities and growing, USC successfully plays the role of SDG analyst and advisor, solutions match maker and investment broker.
