FIA Launches Digital Licensing Platform to Empower Member Clubs and Modernise Motorsport Governance

11.06.25

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) unveiled its new  Digital Licensing Platform  at the FIA Conference in Macau, marking a major milestone in the digital transformation of global motorsport governance. Officially announced by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the platform  delivers on a key commitment of his presidential manifesto—to modernise operations and enhance support to Members.

Developed in response to challenges faced by many National Sporting Authorities (Autorités Sportives Nationales - ASNs), the platform offers a unified, modern solution to simplify licence administration and transform the way ASNs operate.

“The Digital Licensing Platform is more than just an app, it’s a cornerstone of the FIA’s digital transformation,” said FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem. “It reflects our commitment to a more efficient, transparent, and globally unified sporting system, modernising how we serve our community, empowering our Sporting Member Clubs, and laying the groundwork for the future of our sport.”

Strengthening Sport Governance Through Digital Innovation

To compete in official events, drivers must hold a valid licence issued by the host country’s ASN—ensuring safety, compliance, and accountability. By digitising this process, the FIA and its Members are strengthening a core pillar of sport governance.

“I am proud to see this strategic project reach its implementation” said Valerio Iachizzi, FIA Secretary General for Sport. “We are equipping ASNs with a powerful tool to modernise their operations, enhance efficiency, and make data-driven decisions—ultimately enabling them to manage and grow motorsport at the national level.”

Core Features: Visibility, Control, Efficiency

The platform streamlines the end-to-end licensing process—from application to approval—while ensuring ASNs retain full sovereignty over their data and decision-making.

Key features include:

·             Licensing Dashboard – Visibility of aggregated licence data (e.g. type, gender, volume, geographic distribution).

·             Cross-platform compatibility on mobile and web.

·             Robust Security – Cloud-hosted for compliance, scalability, and protection.

·             Built to meet the specific operational needs of both ASNs and drivers.

The platform will initially roll out in September 2025—beginning with Canada and Sri Lanka—and will launch with multilingual support.

Hands-On in Macau

Throughout the FIA Conference, ASN Presidents and Delegates will have the opportunity to explore the platform firsthand at the Digital Licensing Demo Booth. Visitors will be able to test the mobile app and administrative dashboard using demo devices, walk through both the driver and ASN interfaces, and engage directly with the FIA and development staff.

Feedback collected during the event will inform final refinements ahead of the global rollout.
