More than 4000 spectators had the chance to attend a spectacular sporting event and a high quality show orchestrated by the teams from the circuit of Genk and RGMMC Promotion in the presence of Felipe Massa, President of the CIK-FIA. At an impeccably prepared venue, the staging of the Competition brought spectacular innovations that enhanced the attractiveness of the discipline to the general public as well as partners and VIP guests. In the end, all those present received an extremely positive impression.

The 2018 Historic Super Cup was particularly well received under a large marquee at the entrance of the paddock, welcoming many visitors to see the karts emblematic of the history of karting from 1959 to 1984, along with the original kart with which Lewis Hamilton won the European FA Championship in 2000. Several demonstrations on the track revived these machines to the delight of all.

Hajek finally rewarded

The favourites after the Qualifying Heats, Patrik Hajek (CZE), Matteo Vigano (ITA) and Jose Maria Navalon Boya (ESP) were crowned in their respective categories, even though Kobe Pauwels (BEL) won the Final in Academy. With its sporting and popular success, the 2018 World Championship Belgium will remain an outstanding feature of this decade of international karting.

Patrik Hajek (CZE - Kosmic / Vortex / LeCont) added another victory to his score Sunday morning in the last Qualifying Heats to strengthen his dominance and secure pole position on the starting grid of the World Championship final. FIA Karting - KZ. The Czech drove a perfect Race in the lead throughout the 23 laps. Starting well, he took advantage of incidents that delayed some of his pursuers to gain a small lead on the first lap and then continued to widen the gap consistently. However, Alex Irlando (ITA - Sodi / TM Racing / LeCont) managed to overtake Paolo De Conto (ITA - CRG / TM Racing / LeCont), holder of the fastest lap in the race, for 4th place.

Three years after the Karol Basz won the World title in KF, Patrik Hajek became the second World Champion from the Olivier Maréchal’s Kosmic Racing Department, and the first Czech to win this crown, a great reward for a brave Driver who has been searching for a major success for many seasons.

Pauwels victorious at home, Navalon Boya wins the Academy Trophy

Points leader Jose Maria Navalon Boya (ESP) confirmed his ascendancy in the FIA ​​Karting Academy Trophy with an additional victory in a  Heat. Yet his rival Kobe Pauwels (BEL) quickly took control of the Final. The gap varied between the two contenders, but Navalon Boya, holder of the fastest lap, decided not to take any risks, knowing that he was already assured of winning the Trophy and contented himself with the second step of the podium. Joshua Rattican (GBR) was brilliantly 3rd in front of Craig Tanic (FRA), later penalised for a poorly positioned front fairing. Guilherme A. Vigano triumphs to the end

Dominant in the International FIA Karting Super Cup - KZ2, Matteo Vigano (ITA - Tony Kart / Vortex / LeCont) only conceded a 3rd place in his last Qualifying Heat against rivals who had already fitted their new tyres. Patrik Hajek (CZE) est devenu Champion du Monde FIA Karting – KZ à Genk (BEL) ce week-end. Kobe Pauwels (BEL) gagnait la finale du Trophée Académie FIA Karting remporté par Jose Maria Navalon Boya (ESP) et Matteo Vigano (ITA) triomphait dans la Super Coupe Internationale FIA Karting – KZ2. La Compétition de Genk restera dans les mémoires comme un évènement remarquable grâce au spectacle offert, à la qualité de l'organisation et à la présence d'un très nombreux public.

Plus de 4000 spectateurs ont eu la chance d'assister à une très belle épreuve sportive en même temps qu'à un show de grande qualité orchestré par les équipes du circuit de Genk et de RGMMC Promotion en présence de Felipe Massa, Président de la CIK-FIA. Sur un site impeccablement préparé, la mise en scène de la Compétition a proposé des innovations spectaculaires renforçant l'attrait de la discipline auprès du grand public comme des partenaires et des invités VIP. Au final, c'est une impression extrêmement favorable qui a marqué l'ensemble des personnes présentes.

La Super Coupe Historique 2018 a bénéficié d'un accueil particulièrement bien conçu sous un grand chapiteau à l'entrée du paddock, recevant ainsi beaucoup de visiteurs autour des karts emblématiques de l'histoire du karting de 1959 à 1984, avec en point d'orgue le kart original avec lequel Lewis Hamilton a remporté le Championnat d'Europe FA en 2000. Plusieurs démonstrations en piste ont fait revivre ses machines pour le plus grand plaisir de tous.

Hajek enfin récompensé

Trois ans après le titre mondial de Karol Basz en KF, Patrik Hajek devenait le second Champion du Monde du Kosmic Racing Department d'Olivier Maréchal, et le premier Tchèque à décrocher cette couronne, une belle récompense pour un Pilote courageux qui courait après un succès majeur depuis de nombreuses saisons.

Pauwels victorieux sur ses terres, Navalon Boya vainqueur du Trophée Académie

Le leader du classement Jose Maria Navalon Boya (ESP) confirmait son ascendant sur le Trophée Académie FIA Karting par une victoire supplémentaire en Manche. Pourtant son rival Kobe Pauwels (BEL) prenait rapidement les commandes de la Finale. L'écart variait entre les deux prétendants, mais Navalon Boya, détenteur du meilleur tour, décidait de ne pas prendre de risque, se sachant déjà assuré de remporter le Trophée en se contentant de la 2^e marche du podium. Joshua Rattican (GBR) remontait brillamment en 3^e position devant Craig Tanic (FRA), pénalisé ultérieurement pour un carénage avant mal positionné. Guilherme A. De Figueiredo (BRA) récupérait ainsi la 4^e position et Robert De Haan (NLD) terminait 5^e.

Vigano jusqu'au bout du triomphe

Dominateur jusque-là de la Super Coupe Internationale FIA Karting – KZ2, Matteo Vigano  (ITA - Tony Kart/Vortex/LeCont) a seulement concédé une 3^e place dans sa dernière Manche Qualificative face à des adversaires ayant déjà monté leurs pneus neufs. Cela n'empêchait pas l'Italien de partir en pole position pour la Finale aux côtés d'Adrien Renaudin (FRA - Sodi/TM Racing/LeCont). Alors que Vigano prenait tout de suite le large, Daniel Bray (NZL - GP/Alu Group/TM Racing/LeCont) s'emparait d'une solide 2^e place. Renaudin résistait jusqu'à l'avant-dernier tour à la pression de Gaetano Gomes E.S. Di Mauro (BRA – CRG/TM Racing/LeCont). Une attaque en vue de l'arrivée permettait à David Vidales Ajenjo (ESP - Tony Kart/Vortex/LeCont) de prendre la 3^e place devant le Brésilien et Renaudin pendant que Vigano décrochait haut la main un succès international amplement mérité.

Patrik Hajek (CZE) werd dit weekend in Genk (BEL) Wereldkampioen FIA Karting – KZ. Kobe Pauwels (BEL) won de finale van de Academy Trophy FIA Karting, die echter in de wacht werd gesleept door Jose Maria Navalon Boya (ESP). Matteo Vigano (ITA) won de International Super Cup FIA Karting – KZ2. De wedstrijd in Genk gaat de geschiedenis in als een buitengewoon evenement met veel spektakel, een organisatie van topkwaliteit en heel veel publiek.

Ruim 4000 toeschouwers genoten van een zeer mooie sportwedstrijd en een schitterende show tegelijkertijd, georganiseerd door de teams van het circuit van Genk en RGMMC Promotion in aanwezigheid van Felipe Massa, de voorzitter van de CIK-FIA. Op een vlekkeloos voorbereid terrein toonde de organisatie van de competitie spectaculaire innovaties die de aantrekkingskracht van deze discipline op het grote publiek nog vergrootten, evenals partners en VIP gasten. Al met al heeft het evenement een zeer positieve indruk nagelaten bij alle aanwezigen.

De Historic Kart Cup 2018 profiteerde van een perfect georganiseerd welkom onder de grote tent bij de ingang van de paddock, waardoor de typerende historische karts van 1959 tot 1984 veel bezoekers trokken. De kers op de taart was hier wel de originele kart waarmee Lewis Hamilton in 2000 het Europees Kampioenschap FA won. Verschillende demonstraties op de baan brachten deze machines tot leven, tot groot genoegen van de toeschouwers.

Hajek eindelijk beloond

Na afloop van de kwalificatieronden waren Patrik Hajek (CZE), Matteo Vigano (ITA) en Jose Maria Navalon Boya (ESP) favoriet. Zij hebben zich, elk in hun eigen categorie, kunnen bewijzen, hoewel Kobe Pauwels (BEL) de Academy finale won. Dankzij het geslaagde sportevenement en de populariteit bij de toeschouwers was de Belgische Kart Grand Prix 2018 een van de grootste successen van dit decennium internationale karting.

Alex Irlando (ITA - Sodi/TM Racing/LeCont) slaagde erin om Paolo De Conto (ITA - CRG/TM Racing/LeCont) in te halen, die de snelste ronde van de wedstrijd op zijn naam had, en behaalde zo de 4de plaats.

Drie jaar na de wereldtitel van Karol Basz in de KF werd Patrik Hajek de tweede wereldkampioen van het Kosmic Racing Department van Olivier Maréchal en de eerste Tsjech die deze prijs binnenhaalt. Een mooie beloning voor een moedige piloot die al heel wat seizoenen aasde op een titel.

Pauwels wint op eigen bodem, Navalon Boya wint de Academy Trophy

Leider van het klassement Jose Maria Navalon Boya (ESP) bevestigde zijn stijgende lijn in de Academy Trophy FIA Karting met een extra overwinning in de manches. Toch nam zijn rivaal Kobe Pauwels (BEL) vlug de leiding in de finale. De afstand tussen de twee titelpretendenten wisselde, maar Navalon Boya, met de beste rondetijd, nam geen risico's en wist goed dat hij ook met een 2de plaats de Trophy nog zou winnen. Joshua Rattican (GBR) kwam schitterend terug naar de 3de plaats, voor Craig Tanic (FRA), die later werd bestraft voor een slecht geplaatste front fairing. Guilherme A. De Figueiredo (BRA) behaalde zo de 4de plaats en Robert De Haan (NLD) eindigde als 5de.

Vigano gaat voluit voor de eerste plaats

Matteo Vigano (ITA - Tony Kart/Vortex/LeCont) domineerde tot dan toe de International Super Cup FIA Karting - KZ2 maar behaalde slechts een 3de plaats in zijn laatste kwalificatieronde tegen rivalen die hun nieuwe banden al hadden laten plaatsen. Toch kon de Italiaan vertrekken vanuit de poleposition in de finale, naast Adrien Renaudin (FRA - Sodi/TM Racing/LeCont). Terwijl Vigano er meteen vandoor racete, verzekerde Daniel Bray (NZL - GP/Alu Group/TM Racing/LeCont) zich van een stevige 2de plaats. Renaudin bood tot de voorlaatste ronde weerstand tegen de druk van Gaetano Gomes E.S. Di Mauro (BRA – CRG/TM Racing/LeCont). Een aanval vlak voor de finish bezorgde David Vidales Ajenjo (ESP - Tony Kart/Vortex/LeCont) de 3de plaats, voor de Braziliaan, terwijl Vigano vol trots een welverdiende internationale overwinning boekte.
