FIA Girls on Track Brings Together Local Girls and Women in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

08.12.25

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, welcomed a group of local girls and young women to participate in its Girls on Track programme in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, today as it heads into the FIA General Assembly week.

Hosted in one of Tashkent’s premier sporting venues, the Olympic Village, the event offered participants from schools across the city a dynamic and engaging day of activities designed to inspire, educate and empower the next generation of women in motor sport.

The girls seized the opportunity to test their skills on the karting slalom path for the very first time and take part in various sporting and teamwork exercises. Above all, they were able to meet and learn directly from leading figures in motor sport who shared their experiences, advice and encouragement.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem met with the attendees and reiterated his commitment to initiatives that make motor sport more inclusive and accessible for all.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA President, said: “The FIA is committed to reducing barriers, increasing accessibility, and opening doors to new opportunities in motorsport around the world. It is great to see so many women here in Tashkent at our latest event, combining educational sessions, hands-on driving and racing experience, and guidance from inspiring role models.

The FIA Girls on Track initiative is continuing to inspire the next generation of women in motorsport, and I am proud of the progress that has been made in growing participation both on and off the track.”

Burcu Cetinkaya, Chair of the Women in Motorsport Commission, said: “Every young girl who joins the Girls on Track programme is a potential future competitor, engineer, marshal or leader in our sport. Each of them brings us one step closer to doubling overall participation in motor sport and strengthening the diverse talent pool we need to sustain its future.

“The presence of the FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem here today shows the support we have at the highest level. Seeing the energy and curiosity of the girls today in Tashkent was a powerful reminder of why we do this work and how bright the future can be.”

Alessandra Malhamé, Senior HR Director, People & Culture, Diversity & Inclusion, said: “It is inspiring to see so much energy and talent gathered here today. In recent years, we have significantly increased the number of women within the FIA, and we remain fully committed to creating opportunities, from internships to professional pathways, for young women who want to build a future in motor sport. Girls on Track represents exactly that mission: a place to learn, grow and discover your potential.”
