FIA ANNOUNCES INNOVATION CHALLENGE 2025 ASIA PACIFIC CHAMPIONS IN CHIANG MAI

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motorsport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has announced the FIA Region II (Asia-Pacific) Champions of the FIA Innovation Challenge 2025 for during its Asia-Pacific Congress in Chiang Mai, Thailand. 

This Challenge celebrates and showcases groundbreaking initiatives from FIA Mobility Member Clubs that drive growth, development and positive impact within their communities. By highlighting creative projects and fostering collaboration, the Challenge strengthens the global FIA network by helping Member Clubs elevate their visibility and share knowledge and experience.  

This year’s FIA Region II Champions show how innovative Club projects in the Asia-Pacific region can bring real benefits through improved roadside support, clearer inspections, and stronger vehicle security.

FIA REGION II CHAMPIONS (ASIA-PACIFIC) 

  • RACQ (Australia): Vehicle Security Standard 

A benchmark assessment to help manufacturers build consumer-friendly vehicle security features, giving drivers transparent information to make safer choices and making vehicles harder to steal, easier to recover, and less likely to be involved in crime or crashes. 

  • JAF (Japan): Video Advisory Road Service 

A members-only service using smartphone video calls to diagnose vehicle issues remotely, allowing customers to get their issues resolved quickly. If on-site help is needed, detailed information speeds up roadside assistance and reduces waiting times. 

  • WIAA (India): Automated Testing Station 

A state-of-the-art inspection facility using advanced digital equipment and automated technology for faster and more transparent heavy vehicle inspections, improving road safety and sustainability.   

FIA President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, said: “The Innovation Challenge showcases the passion for progress and strength of commitment of our Members. Their innovation is an inspiration to us all and shows that when we work together, we can achieve positive lasting change. Congratulations to our 2025 Innovation Challenge Regional Champions and thank you to all Clubs who submitted their projects.”

Through the innovative projects of our Regional Champions, we are showcasing how Clubs can drive growth and financial sustainability, generate tangible benefits for their members and develop solutions that can be adapted and expanded across the Region.”

FIA Secretary General for Mobility and Sustainability, Willem Groenewald, said: “Across the Asia Pacific region, innovations are making mobility safer, more affordable, and more sustainable for everyone. The entries we have had this year have once again raised the bar for the creativity, vision, and innovation of our Member Club.” 

The Global winners of the FIA Innovation Challenge 2025 will be announced in December during the FIA General Assemblies week in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
