The day started with Hahn leading Lacko by 30-points and ended it with a single point addition to make a 31-point advantage as the championship battle begins to enter its final stages.

Lacko took a thrilling race one win after defending resolutely from a charging Hahn in a nailbiting first 12-lap race at a sun-drenched Jarama in Spain this afternoon.

Hahn took his revenge in race two, putting in a spectacular performance by carving through the field in the early stages from seventh on the grid to take a highly merited victory.

RACE ONE

Adam Lacko took a superb victory in race one of the penultimate race of the 2016 FIA European Truck Racing season at Jarama in Spain this afternoon. It was the Buggyra International Racing system driver’s 13th win of the 2016 season.

The Czech headed home title rival Jochen Hahn by just 0.672s in a close race which saw the two almost tied together for the duration of the contest. In a microcosm of the season so far there was little to choose between the two on the challenging track near Madrid but after leading in to the first corner Lacko led to the chequered flag despite intense pressure from Hahn.

RACE TWO

Jochen Hahn scored a remarkable win in race two at Jarama today after starting from seventh on the grid and making his way to the front after just two laps. In one of the performances of the season the German extended his 2016 FIA European Truck Racing Championship title lead with a memorably polished performance.

Hahn’s superb victory means that he has increased his lead in the standings to 31 points. 90 points still remain available this season with six races to come in the world’s most exciting and competitive truck racing championship.

The German was able to pull well clear of his competitors in the laps after he surged to the front and having dispensed with Adam Lacko, Norbert Kiss, René Reinert, Sascha Lenz, Anthony Janiec, Ellen Lohr and finally Steffi Halm to take the lead. From there, Hahn pulled out an impressive lead and secured his 11th victory of the season heading home title rival Adam Lacko by 8.909s.
