ETRC - 2019 Race of Slovakia - Race 1 & 2

Jochen Hahn swept to a fifth 2019 FIA ETRC win of the season so far with an accomplished and clinical display in the first race of the day at Slovakiaring.

The reigning champion mastered the FIA ETRC’s longest venue to come out on top after an entertaining battle with fellow IVECO driver Steffi Halm [Team Schwabentruck].

In the second race of the day it was Sascha Lenz who came to the fore after he took advantage of a mistake by pole sitter Rene Reinert to take a third win of his ETRC career.

Hahn's win and fifth place today ensured he stretched his points advantage to 35 points in the title chase.

Race 1

Reigning champion Jochen Hahn took the fifth win of his 2019 FIA ETRC campaign aboard his Team Hahn Racing IVECO truck at a baking hot Slovakiaring this afternoon.

The initial start was red-flagged due to an incident that resulted in André Kursim burying his Don’t Touch Racing IVECO truck in the gravel on the outside of Turn 2.

Hahn denied a hard-charging Steffi Halm in yet another IVECO 1-2 result after the Team Schwabentruck driver made an excellent start from third on the grid and applied pressure to the leading truck of Hahn.

Halm looked formidable and managed to get by Hahn just after the re-start passing him at Turn 1. But Hahn was not to be denied and his better pace told as he made a decisive move on his compatriot to re-gain the lead.

Starting from fourth on the grid Adam Lacko stayed out of trouble and was putting immense pressure on Halm in the closing stages of the race but Halm managed to keep the Czech racer at bay.

Lacko eventually rounded out the podium to score his first podium since the season opener at Misano.

Race 2

Sascha Lenz claimed his second victory of the season and the third of his FIA ETRC career after another incident filled race at Slovakiaring this evening.

Lenz, driving his SL Trucksport 30 MAN, made an excellent start from fifth on the grid and immediately slotted into second place behind polesitter Rene Reinert.

Reinert however made a small error under braking into Turn 3 on the second lap which allowed Lenz to dive to the inside and take the lead.

Shortly after the Reinert Racing driver had a coming together with Steffi Halm’s Team Schwabentruck IVECO. This dropped Reinert down the order and eventually led to his retirement from the race.

Halm went on to claim her second runners-up finish of the day, one place ahead of Buggyra Racing’s Adam Lacko who also copied his race one result of third place.

Lacko battled Tankpool24 Racing driver Norbert Kiss in the second part of the race and eventually went around the outside of the black Mercedes-Benz truck, pushing the Hungarian down to P4 on the final lap.
