ERC JUNIOR CHAMPION INGRAM BACK IN ACTION
Chris Ingram made his long awaited competition return with a top 10 finish on Rally Internazionale del Casentino in Italy last weekend – a planned warm-up for Rally di Roma Capitale from 20-22 July when he is set to resume his FIA ERC Junior Under 28 Championship bid. Ingram hadn’t rallied since early May when illness forced his withdrawal from Rally Islas Canarias. But he was back competing again in his Toksport WRT ŠKODA Fabia R5, coming home one place ahead of team-mate Orhan Avcioǧlu in eighth overall, a strong performance after several weeks of inactivity. Click for full story.

JOHANSSON GETS SET FOR ERC JUNIOR UNDER 27 BID
Sebastian Johansson will become the second Swede in the FIA ERC Junior Under 27 Championship when he makes his debut in the young driver training series on Rally di Roma Capitale next week. Johansson, 25, will join compatriot Tom Kristensson in the Pirelli-supported category, which provides the first step on the international ladder for drivers graduating from national level aiming for the top. Click for full story.

ULTIMATE SACRIFICE: MELEGARI GESTURE GIVES FORMER ERC CHAMPION BASSO RALLY DI ROMA CAPITALE CHANCE
Zelindo Melegari has made the ultimate sacrifice by pulling his entry for Rally di Roma Capitale so former ERC champion and fellow Italian Giandomenico Basso can contest his country’s round of the FIA European Rally Championship. Basso, European champion in 2006 and 2009, is part of Melegari’s Movisport driver management company but did not have the necessary funds to contest the all-asphalt ERC qualifier, which also counts for Italian championship points. Click for full story.

TARMAC TIME: MONTEIRO SET FOR ROMA ERC DUTY
Aloísio Monteiro will try Tarmac in his ŠKODA Fabia R5 for the first time when he contests the all-asphalt Rally Roma di Capitale next week. Monteiro, for whom the Italian event will mark his third start in this season’s FIA European Rally Championship, is stepping up to R5 machinery in 2018 but has a preference for driving on asphalt. Click for full story.
