Following a highly-charged week of FIA Girls on Track - Rising Stars activities and assessment, eight racers have been selected to progress to the fourth stage of the programme.

At the end of the final day of the FIA Girls on Track - Rising Stars three-day Training Camp, eight aspiring young drivers have claimed places to go forward to the second Training Camp at the Winfield Racing School. From karts, the focus will move to single-seaters and Formula 4 racing, the entry-level motor sport category for young drivers.

For all 12 youngsters who progressed from the Shoot-Out through to the first Training Camp, it has been a gruelling but enjoyable and emotional few days. Now, for the selected few, it is a pivotal moment in their young careers, as the prospect of potentially joining the Ferrari Driver Academy gets ever closer.

“My warm congratulations to all the drivers who made it this far; that is an achievement in itself and they should all be proud of that,” commented Michèle Mouton, President of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, the visionary behind this exciting and innovative talent detection and nurturing programme.

“It has been really interesting to follow their progression over the past few days and see them take in so much advice and knowledge from the coaches. For our eight selected drivers going on to the second Training Camp, I’m sure they will really start to feel the pressure now, but that is all part of being a complete athlete and I wish them every success. I am also really looking forward to seeing how they make the transition from karts to single-seaters in a few weeks’ time.”

At the end of three days of intense selection for the 12 drivers of Training Camp 1, and in accordance with the regulations of the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme, the jury have selected eight competitors to advance to Training Camp 2 which will start next month.

Today, the four groups of drivers swapped activities, with those in the Formula 4 simulator yesterday taking part in the closing workshops designed to test reaction speed, memory and levels of concentration.

Exhilarated but exhausted from such an intense week of instruction, education, competition and scrutiny, the eight selected drivers now have a couple of weeks to prepare for the second Formula 4 focused Training Camp, also at the Circuit Paul Ricard, on 2-4 November.
