Over 55 delegates, speakers and VIPs meet at the Hyatt Regency for two days of networking and important presentations from Global NCAP, India iRAP and the Curtin Graduate School of Business, hosted by NASA in Nepal’s capital city on 16-18 September.

The FIA Region II Roundtable was attended by FIA Deputy President for Automobile Mobility and Tourism, Thierry Willemarck, and FIA Secretary General for Automobile Mobility and Tourism, Andrew McKellar.

This event, which took place over two days, included the Region II Plenary Assembly, workshops, and private meetings.

The Plenary Assembly provided delegates with an update on the Region's business plan, approval of the audited accounts and a general business session allowed delegates to provide important feedback on how the Region’s governance and future events might be improved. Outgoing Treasurer, Mr Nigel Alexander was praised for his efforts over the last two years.

Andrew McKellar provided valuable insight into the FIA’s strategic orientation for 2019 and beyond.

The workshops, presented by external speakers, covered a wide range of road safety and advocacy topics.

IndiaRAP Manager, Jigesh Bhavsar presented two major projects for Region II Clubs: engagement in the Star Rating for schools project, and the 2-star roads to 3-star roads commitment. Global NCAP Programmes Director & Asia Pacific Coordinator, Jessica Truong outlined key statistics in vehicle crashes and demonstrated how Clubs can get involved to make a change. Curtin Graduate School of Business Professor Piyush Sharma provided a template for Clubs to engage in partnerships with universities and other government agencies in order to fund their advocacy projects.

As is tradition, delegates made the most of several networking opportunities, sampling some of Kathmandu's famous sights and traditional cuisine along the way.

Next year's host, the Federation of Indian Automobile Associations (FIAA) presented a glimpse of host city Chennai, in anticipation for the 2019 FII Region II Roundtable which will take place from 6-8 October.
