Awards ceremony of the 2015 FIA Karting season

In Paris, in the ballrooms of the Hotel Marriott Rive Gauche, the FIA Karting Champions were honoured on Saturday, December 19th, 2015

The evening's host, Luca De Donno, Chairman of WSK Promotion, opened the festivities as the promoter of the FIA Karting events, with Jean Todt, FIA President, Shaikh Abdulla Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, President of the FIA Karting and its Vice-President Kees Van de Grint.

On stage, the three World Karting Champions of 2015, Jorrit Pex in KZ, Karol Basz in KF and Logan Sargeant in KF-Junior, and the Drivers classified 2nd and 3rd in the World Competitions received their trophies to the applause of the public. The European Champions, the winner of the International Super Cup and the top three in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy were also rewarded. Marta Garcia Lopez was doubly in the spotlight as the winner of the Academy Trophy and the Driver supported by the FIA ​​Women in Motorsport Commission.

The trophy for the best event of the year for 2015 was awarded to the Trent Valley Kart Club for organising the second round of the FIA Karting European KF and KF-Junior Championship at the PF International Circuit in Great Britain.

The FIA Karting recognised the Sala family for their uninterrupted involvement in the history of karting since its beginnings. The Birel chassis brand was created by Umberto Sala, whose brother Guido won the first two World Championships in the history of the FIA Karting. His son Oscar was also a renowned Driver before building his Birel brand on an industrial basis. Ronni currently represents the third generation of the Sala dynasty at the head of the family business, now allied with ART Grand Prix as Birel ART.

The guests proceeded to vote for the best photo of the year. The French photographer Frederic Billet, from the KSP agency, won the ninth competition organised by the FIA Karting.

After a dinner accompanied by videos projected from the sporting year, the guests received the traditional « Best-Of” published by the FIA Karting, a superb collector's book of over 100 pages in large format, retracing the text and images of the highlights of the 2015 season.
